You may well recognise the internally sterile nitrogen filled vial, as it has been part of Adelphi’s portfolio for nearly 30 years! But not until now has it been given an official brand name. We set the Adelphi team the task of coming up with a name which would be both memorable and aptly reflect the product’s attributes. They didn’t disappoint – with more than 40 excellent suggestions to review and debate, we eventually agreed on Anoxos.
Anoxos was adapted from the word anoxic, meaning ‘containing no oxygen’. It references the absence of oxygen within the sterile nitrogen filled vial, which is ideal for storing formulations such as Technetium products, which are susceptible to oxidation. The winning name was submitted by Associate UK Sales Director, Jamie Wallace.
The new name will appear on product labels and Adelphi paperwork over the coming months. This change has been communicated to our existing customers through an official Change Control.
Anoxos is a range of vials which are supplied internally clean, sterile and particle free, with a small vacuum and an inert nitrogen fill. The vials are processed according to a validated procedure by our approved manufacturing partner in Germany, using components from premium manufacturers, including SCHOTT Pharma and West. They are MDR registered medical devices* and carry both CE and UKCA marks.
Originally developed for use in radiopharmacies, nuclear medicine and PET scanning departments, we’ve recently seen an increase in interest in our vials for alternative applications – these include clinical trials and the carrying out of dilutions in a sterile container.
This widening of the market has prompted us to reflect on the huge value our sterile nitrogen filled vial has already shown for its role in cancer diagnoses and therapies since its creation in 1997. It also got us thinking of what else it could do in the future – how many other health promoting applications might it have going forward? Needless to say, such a highly valued and versatile range deserves a bit of fanfare, so here’s to Anoxos!
